Not sure who reads my blog, but I am going to share this for not only random people's benefits, but to log in history as well for my benefit!

We are flooding. Our apartment is fine - for now. Any levees break, we might be in trouble floodwise. Otherwise our real danger in our townhome is with the plumbing/electricity. Our electric only will have problems if the power plant does (it shouldn't though!) The plumbing is an actual possibility. If people empty their subpumps into their drains in their basements instead of outside....it could break something at the sewer and then we could have issues. That means it could come up our drains...not likely, OR our plumbing could be shut down and water turned off due to BROKENNESS. Hopefully this won't happen.

Last Friday the Gov of SD issued a "mandatory" evacuation of Dakota Dunes (exit 1 in SD, we're exit 2). Only 11 houses of the almost 600 people stayed to protect their houses. I believe that these 11 houses are all between levee #2 and the river right now. If these people leave, they can't re-enter (that is the "mandatory" part). The water is supposed to stay at the high level for 2 months. I have a feeling that those 11 people won't stay in their houses for 2 months. Ya never know though! J's boss is one of the 11. That's all I have on that bit of information.

This is an aerial view of Sioux City and South Sioux City, NE. The right/top is Sioux City and the water tower part is South Sioux City. The water is covering the park, the soccer fields, and a walking trail. That small "river" you see at the top right is the Floyd River...headed right to Jeramie's plant and is supposed to be much smaller.

The buildings you see are from downtown Sioux City. This is the park that is sort of like the rose garden/canal park boardwalk area of Duluth.

The truck is coming from the boat landing down by the river. This is the intersection I use to get to work. Get off I-29 onto Hamilton...not so much anymore!
